Tatuaje Cigars
Tatuaje was founded by Pete Johnson, whose passion for traditional Cuban-style cigars led him to José “Pepín” García in the early 2000s. Johnson wanted a cigar with the structure, intensity, and character of the Cuban cigars he enjoyed, and the collaboration with García became the foundation for Tatuaje. The first Tatuaje cigars debuted in 2003.
The brand's name, Tatuaje, is Spanish for “tattoo,” a fitting name for a brand closely associated with Johnson's own tattoos and the distinctive artwork that has become part of Tatuaje's identity.
Tatuaje's relationship with the García family has remained an important part of the brand. The cigars are produced through the García family's cigar-making operation in Nicaragua, where My Father Cigars operates its vertically integrated Estelí facility.
The result is a portfolio that covers a wide range of blends, wrappers, strengths, and formats while maintaining the distinctive character that smokers have come to associate with Tatuaje.
