Crux Cigars
Founded in 2014, Crux Cigars was created by Jeff Haugen with a focus on premium tobacco, craftsmanship, and a strong connection to the independent cigar retail community. Haugen came from the retail side of the cigar business and traveled to Nicaragua to learn more about cigar production before developing the Crux brand.
The name Crux comes from the Latin word for "cross" and represents the crossroads and defining moments that people encounter throughout life. That idea remains part of the brand's identity and its approach to premium cigars.
Crux launched its first cigars in 2014 and developed its blends with the Plasencia family in Nicaragua. The brand has since built a portfolio ranging from smooth Connecticut-wrapped cigars to richer Habano and Maduro blends, along with limited-production releases such as Crux Limitada.
Crux describes its approach around four principles: Community, Craftsmanship, Integrity, and Respect.
